Nutritional Healing: My Story

I am going to share my story of healing with the hopes of inspiring and helping others! I was not always a natural heath practitioner…I was once a very sick person. In my early 30’s, I was living my life like everyone else when I suddenly started feeling ill. I didn’t think anything of it at first, but as time passed, I realized that I wasn’t getting any better; something was wrong. Not only was my health not improving…I began to develop more and more symptoms. I had difficulty doing every day things because I was having memory problems and felt so physically ill. This made me isolate myself from people and different situations. At the time I was suffering with TMJ. While clenching and grinding at night, I cracked a tooth and it got infected and this lead to severe problems with my immune system. I always suspected this was the root cause of my health problems because this was when all my symptoms started.

My disappointing journey with traditional medicine

I started my long journey to find a medical doctor who was going to help me. Unfortunately, that doctor didn’t exist for me. I went from doctor to doctor with my long list of symptoms: brain fog, dizziness, night sweats, insomnia, swelling and coldness in my feet, and severe pain all over my body. I mentioned to these many doctors that I believed it was the past tooth infection that was causing all my symptoms. They thought I was crazy! They all assured me that there was no connection. One doctor actually told me that your dental health cannot affect other areas of the body…I didn't necessarily agree with that. They clearly didn’t believe I was sick and were less than kind when telling me that.  I thought someone must be able to help me, right? The only help they offered me was prescription medication for my symptoms. But I wasn’t interested in just managing my debilitating symptoms with drugs… I wanted to resolve them forever. I wanted my health back!!

How I took charge of my own health

I realized at that time, that conventional medicine had absolutely nothing to offer me. I was starting to think I would never be healthy again. So, I decided to stop trying to find help with conventional medicine and realized if I was going to get well, I would have to heal myself.  But how was I going to do that? I didn’t know where to begin. I was feeling sick, desperate, and alone. I knew one thing…I was not going to live the rest of my life with this “mystery illness.” I then began putting my energy into learning all about natural health and its various modalities. I tried many…some were helpful, others were not. Some just offered quick fixes that didn’t work and others were just gimmicks. I learned what actually heals the body and what doesn’t. I also learned that in order to regain my health, I had to take a "Whole Health" approach to healing. I began to educate myself on the healing properties of food. I found holistic nutrition to be the most important thing you can do for your health. Whole foods contain exceptional healing properties so I began to implement them in my healing process. I discovered I was sensitive to wheat and removed it from my diet. I began to see some profound changes in the way I was feeling. I knew I was on to something great! I added high quality supplements to my health regimen. I then slowly began to implement other healing modalities that I found helpful to me. I was now able to get back into a normal routine and living life again. I was even able to start exercising, which was something I could not do when I was sick. These changes I made to my health were not just a way for me to heal but it developed into a whole new lifestyle for me.

You can heal too

Please do not listen to anyone who claims that you need to find the root cause to your health problems in order to get well. Sometimes you can trace it back to something and sometimes you can’t. That’s ok! This doesn’t mean you can’t heal your body and improve your health. My healing didn’t happen overnight but I am happy to say that it did happen.  And it can happen for you!  The one thing I would like to recommend is that you never give up on yourself.  If you have a strong determination to get well… you can do it. I now look at my illness as a blessing. I am actually healthier today than I have ever been.  I created Whole Health and Nutrition with the sole purpose of helping others. I have learned so much through my own healing, and I feel blessed to be able to share my knowledge of natural health and healing with my clients and many people around the world. If you are struggling with health issues that you cannot resolve or just want to live the healthiest life possible, I would like to help you on your journey to health and wellness!
